den was selected the 2015 16 Instructor of the Year at East Central Commu nity College. Wright has been employed as a mathemat ics instructor at the col lege since 2012. She earned the bache lor's degree in math edu cation at Troy State University and completed a master's in statistics at Mississippi State Univer sity. Prior to joining the ECCC faculty, she was a graduate teaching assis tant at Mississippi State University. "I was overwhelmed when I found out that I received this honor," Wright said. "My biggest influence would have to be my co workers at EC, being that this is my first job out of graduate school. "The Math and Com puter Science Department took me under their wing and have taught me everything I know, not only about the art of teaching, but the impor tance of compassion towards students." Her honors include selection as 2016 Higher Education Appreciation Day: Work Toward Aca demic Excellence Instruc tor of the Year. "Teaching is a calling and will be what you make it," Wright said. "Learn all you can from the people around you, and laugh with your stu dents daily."
