• Lewis Davis repre– sented Northeast High School at the 2015 HOBY Conference at Millsaps Col– lege. Davis, who is a junior at Northeast High School, was selected from 127 candi– dates. • SCOOBA- East Missis– sippi Community College art instructor Lisa Spinks' drawing "Sneakers" won her first place in the drawing category at Meridian Museum of Art's People's Choice competition. Spinks has taught art at EMCC for eight years. The colored pencil drawing of Spinks's shoes netted her $100 and the chance to have her piece, along with another of her drawings titled "Heels," dis– played at the museum and entered into the Bi-State Juried Art Competition. • DECATUR - East Cen– tral Community College fac· instruction for the college's First Year Experience pro– gram, was one of five national finalists for the 2015 "Excellence in Online Teaching" award presented by Pearson. Prior to joining the ECCC staff, she served as fourth grade mathematics instructor at T.J. Harris Upper Elementary School in Meridian. From 2008 to 2011, she served as a grad– uate and teaching assistant at Mississippi State Univer– sity. Beasley-Nelson received her bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in instruc– tional technology from Mis– sissippi State Univfrsity. • Andrea Banks has been selected to receive the Meridian Exchange Club/Bo Russell Memorial Scholarship at Meridian Community College This $1,400 awa.i - funded through the .\IC(. Foundation by the local civic organization. Banks is a 2015 high honors graduate of West Lauderdale High School, where she was a member of HOSA, Tech Masters, Mis– sissippi Scholar and a recip– ient of the MCC Leadership Scholarship. She is in the

Associate Degree Nursing Program at MCC, and works for Subway and Okatibbee Creek Fish Camp. After receiving her asso– ciate degree, Banks will con– tinue her education to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. • Tori Wolverton has been selected to receive the Gerry Wayne Purvis Schol– arship at Meridian Commu– nity College. This $2,000 award was established with the MCC Foundation by Betty Purvis to honor her husband for his service as president of the Foundation Board of Direc– tors and his commitment to education. Mr. Purvis has been named to the College's Hall of Fame. a recognition of alumni who have distin– guished themselves in their vocational field. Wolverton, a 2014 vale– dictorian graduate of South– east Lauderdale High School, is in the University Transfer Program at MCC and is a President's List scholar. Wolverton's goal is to earn a master's degree in aerospace engineering with a focus in astronautics from Mississippi State University. Her ultimate goal is to work for NASA. • Chelsea Jordan and Sonya Jones have been

selected to receive the Jerry Greene Hotel and Restau– rant Supply Scholarship at Meridian Community Col– lege. These awards are funded through the MCC Founda– tion by the local food service equipment dealer. A member of the MCC Foun– dation Board of Directors, Greene is a recipient of the prestigious Hartley D. Peavey Award for Entrepre– neurial Excellence. Students in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Technology Program are chosen for these scholarships. Jordan, a 2011 honors graduate of Enterprise High School, is a freshman in the Hotel and Restaurant Man– agement Technology Pro– gram at MCC. In 2014, she graduated with high honors from the Graphic Design Technology Program at MCC. Jordan's goal is to open her own catering/event planning business with her sister. She is a Dean's Li~t scholar and works part-time at Weidmann's Restaurant in Meridian. She is a member of the Colligate DECA After graduation, Jones plans to enter the workforce and learn everything she can about the restaurant business and one day own her own restaurant.
