Thaggard is pitcher ofweek for second time

East Central Community College freshman pitcher Chloe Thaggard of Philadelphia has been named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time tNs season. The former Leake Academy standout won the award for the week of April 20-26. She pre– viously received the honor for March 23-29, when she also wac; selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division Il National Pitcher of the Week. Thaggard was dominant on the mound for East Central last

week with two-hit and one-bit shutout vic– tories in her two starts. She picked up a 9-0 five-inning win over Pearl River -........i~L.1 Community

seven innings for a 2-0 win, striking out 11 and facing only 25 batters. She is 20-3 on the mound this season with a 1.48 ERA. It is the fifth time this sea– son that a Lady Diamond Warrior has received either the MACJC Pitcher of the Week or Player of the Week. The 11th ranked ECCC Lady Diamond Warriors will meet the Pearl River Community College Lady Wildcats in the opening round of the MACJC State Tournament Friday,May 1, at 4 p.m. at Community Bank Park in Ellisville. East Central is 38- 8 on the season.
