ECCC men shut down Northwest, women tie
Behind goals from Jacob Johnson and Devon Pitts, the East Central Community Col– l~ men's soccer team se– cured a 2--0 shutout win over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Friday on theNorthwest cam– pus in Senatobia. The East Central women and Northwest women battled through two overtimes before settling for a ()-0 tie. Johnson, a sophomore for– ward from Destrehan High School (La), scored East Cen– tral's first goal on a penalty kick. Pitts, a freshman mid– fielder out of George County High School in Lucedale, fol– lowed Johnson with the War– riors' second goal. E;ast Central improved to 5- 9-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Col– leges North Division play. Northwest fell to 10-5-1 overall and 3-3 in the North Division. With the tie, the East Cen– tral women moved to 10-2-1 on the season and 5-0-1 in the division. East Central has al– ready clinched a berth in the postseason. The Northwest Lady Rangers fell to 3-9-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the North Division. BothEast Central teams re– turn to action today when they travel 'to Fulton to face ItawambaCommunity College at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They re– turn home to Decatur on Fri– day to host Holmes Community College at 2 p.m. and4p.m.
