ECCC golfers place third in Northeast tournament
Led again by sophomore Zack Hammons, the East Central Community College golf team took third place in the second Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges tournament of the fall season held at Shiloh RidgeGolf Club in Corinth Sept. 19-20 and hosted by Northeast Mississippi Community College. The ECCC golfers also fin– ished in third place the previous weekend at the MACJC event hosted by Hinds Community College. Hammons, a product of Raleigh High School, finished in third place among 55 other
golfers after shooting a six– llI)der par 138 during the 36-hole tournament. He bad rounds of 67 and 71 over the par 72 course. Hammons finished in sixth place at the first tournament event of the season. Other East Central golfers playing in the Northeast Mississippi Community College event included sophomore Tristan Hernandez of Leake Academy, who finished even par 144 and tied for ninth; soph– omore Andrew Joiner of Spanish Fort High School in Daphne,whowas rbree-over par 147 and finished 16th; freshman
Kade Matbner out of Enterprise High School (Ala.), who shot six-over par 150 and finished tied for 19th; and sophomore Nathan Nance out of Newton County High School, who shot an ll-over 155 and tied for 29th. As a team, the Waniors shot a two-over par 578. Meridian Community C.Ollege won the tournament with a team score of 16-under 5(i(). The Warrior golf team returns to action Oct. 3-4, in the third MACJC Conference event of the fall at Wolf Hollow Golf Course in Wesson and hosted by Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
