from William Carey University in 2004 and was awarded a mas– ter's degree in Mass Communication in 2006 from the University of Southern Mississippi. While in college, Tyson visited five of the seven continents working on various missions and cul– tural exchange projects. Prior to joining East Cen– tral Community College in August 2011, Tyson served as executive director of the Muscular Dystrophy Associ-

ation from 2006 to 2011. While at MDA she served as camp director at Camp Wes– ley Pines where she oversaw 50 children with Muscular Dystrophy. She also taught adjunct for Belhaven College from 2008 until 2011. She has been married since 2006 to Steven Tyson of Morton, who is the cus– tomer service manager for Packaging Corporation of America. Tyson is the daughter of Jerry and Vera George of Morton.

Speech instructor Rachel Tyson of Morton was re– cently selected East Central Community College's Hu– manities Instructor of the Year and will be recognized Oct. 19 on the Decatur cam– pus. Tyson will present a spe– cial program, held in con– junction with Arts and Humanities Month, begin– ning at 7 p.m. in the Vickers , Fine Arts Center audito– rium.
