ECCC celebrates Surgical Technologist Week As part of Surgical Technologist Week held Sept. 16-20, East Central Community College in Decatur celebrated with a pizza party honoring its students. ECCC to host Healthfest 2013 in November Interested in a career in the healthcare field? If so, attend Healthfest 2013,
Education, participants can arrive any time throughout the day and talk with current stu– dents,faculty and administration about programs offered by the College. Campus tours will also be provided. Associate Degree Nursing instructorAlicia Lundstrom who is helping to coordinate the event said, "We feel this is a
great way to reach out to stu– dents interested in these fields, as well as to demonstrate the vast opportunities· and teaching instruction we provide to our current students. Also, aJl healthcare involves inter-professional collaboration so this is a way to not only recruit potential students but provide relevant learning activi– ties for our current students." ECCC offers degrees in asso– ciate degree nursing, practical nursing, surgical technology and emergency medical technology– paramedic. Each program will have dis-
plays and demonstrations to inform prospective students about the roles of various health– care professions. In addition, current students will be available to talk about their real-life experience in a healthcare education program and, along with faculty mem– bers, will participate in simula– tion exercises demonstrating the roles and responsibilities of each profession.
