I . Carson,Griffin named . Mr. and Miss ECCC
Choir, Collegians, and the Wall 0' Sound Marching Band. In addition, Carson is a member ofWarrior Corps, Student BodyAssociation, President's Council and ECCC Players. He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was selected for Who's Who AmongStu– dents In American Junior Colleges. He said he en– joys r eading, attending sporting events, singing and socializing with (ricnds. Aftcneceiving his asso– ciate's degree at East Cen– tral, Carson plans to continue his education at the Universityof Southern Mississippi. La.Joya Griffin is the daughter of Ken Griffin of Philadelphia and Juliet Griffin ofChicago. She is a 20 J 1 graduate of Philadel– phia High School. "l''riendly atmosphere and small classroom sizes that allow me a one-<>n– one opportunity to com– municate with my teachers is my favorite thing about East Central," suid Griffin. Griffin said her family
inspires her. "My family inspires me with their encouragement, love, and support. I would love to make each family member proud, especially my parents," she said. Griffin is a liberal arts major, but despite this, she is leaning toward a ca– reer in the medical field. Griffin is involved in nu– merous activities includ– ing Phi ThetaKappa, Lady Warrior Softball, Warrior Corps, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Sigma Sigma Mu Tau, Phi Beta Lamba and Student Ath– letic Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Neshoba Youth Coali– tion. In addition, she was se– lected for Who's Who Among Students in Amer– ican Junior Colleges and was Maid of Honor at the 2012 ECCC Homecoming. Griffin said she enjoys playing sports, spending time with family, cooking, fishing, hunting and four– wheeler riding. She plans to continue her education and work toward a higher degree in her field of study.

Jeremy Carson of De– catur and LaJoya Griffin of Philadelphia were re– cently selected Mr. and Miss East Central Commu– nity College by a vote of the student body. Carson is the son of Tom and Brenda Carson of Decatur and is a 2011 graduate of Newton County High School. Carson said he enjoys the fact that ECCC is a "close-knit family." He said his favorite memory from East Central was being a part of Spring Spree. Car– son said "hands down" his favorite on-eampus activi– ties are the ones the Stu– dent Body Associalion sponsors. He said he is most in– s pired by his father and former Director of Bands '!'om Carson.
