EC softball players receivehonors
valuable defensive player and most improved player, both products of Neshoba Central High School; infielder Kaylin Hopkins of Louisville, base running award; Mary Sanders of Vidalia, La., most valuable pitcher; and LaJoya Griffin of Philadelphia, Lady Warrior Award. Hopkins is the only returnee in the group. Peeler batted .349 with 32 RBis. She belted three home runs, three triples and seven doubles. Vowell posted a .383 bat– tingaverage and had 17 RBis, on~ home run, a triple and five doubles.
Hopkins saw limited action at the plate but made the most of her eight appear– ances bycollectingsix hits for a . 750 batting average. Sanders went 14-5 on the mound and posted a 2.92 earned run average. The Adams County Christian product also fanned 35 play– ers. The Lady Diamond War– riors finished third in the MACJC South Divisionwith a 14-10 record and advanced to the MACJC State and Region ' 23 tournaments en route to a ~ 31-17 record under first-year '· head coach Kristin Chaney - and assistant CourtneyNunn. . , •:I
