EC was unable to take advantage of a scoring opportunity later in the third period when Franklin's 45-yard field goal attempt fell short. Franklin is a 6', 180- pound sophomore from Petal. The Bears' added their final tally with 4:12 left in the division contest on Jamal Hall's 30-yard run. Hall is a 5-8, 200-pound sophomore running back from Picayune. McDaniel added the PAT. East Central's rushing attack was led by running back Lamarcus Fr anks, who had 15 carries for 52 yards. Franks is a 5-7, 150-pound freshman from Greene County High School. Running back Martin Johnson contributed 48 yards on seven carries. Johnson is a 6-1, 200- pound sophomore from Nanih Waiya. Farmer finished with 25 yards on six carries. The top receiver was

Hurst Stadium on the Summit campus. However, the home– standing Bears rallied to take a 10-7 lead at half– time and added touch– downs in the third and fourth stanzas to claim a 24-7 victory. The Bears improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, while lhe Warriors fell to 0-4 and 0- 2. Farmer, a 6-1, 207- pound freshman from Harrison Central, fin– i~hcd the night by com– pleting 12 of 24 passes for 128 yards and had one interception. Pace, a 6-2, 260-pound freshman from Newton, had another reception for minor yardage. Sou thwest tied the contest later in the first period on q uarterback De'Angelo Ballard's one– yard plunge and Michael McDaniel's PAT.
