EC's Anderson receives Player ofWeek honors

East Central Community College sophomore shortstop Tim Anderson has been selected NJCAADivision IT Player of the Week for his performance in matchupswith Copiah-Lincoln Community College March 26 and MS Gulf Coast Community College on March 29. The Diamond Waniors went 3-1 in the fow· games and were led by Anderson who had great success at bat and on the base paths. During his 15 trips to the plate in the two doubleheaders, Anderson posteda .533 (8-for- 15) average, which included two triples, two doubles and five RBis. He also scored six runs and was credited with four stolenbases. Anderson's two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth provided ECwith a 5-3 victory in the nightcap of the MACJC South Division double– header held at the Clark/Gay Baseball Com– plex in Decatur. Prior to the national recognition, Anderson was recognized as MACJC Player of theWeek for March 25-31, 2013. He currently leads the Diamond Warriors with a .495 batting average, 20 RBis and 25 stolen bases. Anderson is a product of Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He received All-Region 23 and MACJC All– State honors following his freshman cam– paign.
