ECCC's Anderson Receives National Honor East Central Community College sophomore shortstop Tim Anderson has been selected NJCAA Division II Player of the Week for his performance in matchups with Copiah-Lincoln Community College March 26 and MS Gulf Coast Community College on March 29. The Diamond Warriors went 3-1 in the four games and were led by Anderson who had great success at bat and on the base paths. During his 15 trips to the plate in the two doubleheaders, Anderson posted a .533 (8-for-15) average , which included two triples, two doubles and five RBis He also scored six runs and was credited with four stolen bases. Anderson's two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth provided EC with a 5-3 victory in the nightcap of the MACJC South Division doubleheader held at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur. Prior to the national recognition, Anderson was recognized as MACJC Player of the Week for March 25- 31 , 2013. He currently leads the Diamond Warriors with a .495 batting average, 20 RBis and 25 stolen bases. Anderson is a product of Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala . He received All-Region 23 and MACJC All-State honors following his freshman campaign . Anderson has signed a national letter of intent to contmue his career at the Un iversity of Alabama– Birmingham. The Diamond Warriors are led by head coach Neal Holliman and assistants Justin Brewer and Jack Edmonson.
