EC Healthfest provides 'real' career action Area high school students who attended East Central Community College's Health– fest 2013 not only received information on the college's health-related programs, but learned what to expect in actual medical emergencies while observing simulated exercises in each area. In the above photo, surgical technology students "perlorm an operation" on a ''wreck victim" while program director/instructor LeAnn Shirley and others observe the procedure. More than 300 high school students from ECCC's five-county district attended the inaugural event held Nov. 8 at the Phil A. Sutphin Associate Degree Nursing/Child Care Technology Building on the Decatur campus. Healthcare programs include associate degree nursing, practical nursing, surgical technology, emergency medical technology and paramedic.
