The new Decatur town mural and picnic area was officially dedicated by the Greater Decatur Chamber of Com– merce during a brief ceremony earlier this month. Mayor Pat O'Neill (eighth from left) presided at the program and expressed appreciation to the various individuals and organizations "that came together" to complete the project. The mural serves as a "welcome" to downtown Decatur and includes the Chamber's message of "Faith, Family and Education." East Central Community College art instructor Chris Brady (ninth from left) and students Jessica Skinner of Philadelphia and Oeeana Carlson of Newton painted the mural. Also attending the ceremony were (from left) ECCC Vice President for Business Operations Mickey Vance and President Dr. Billy Stewart; Dr. Stewart's daughter, Lizzie Stewart; Chamber representatives Doug Smith and Candy Babson; State Rep. Randy Rushing; Dianne and Mayor O'Neill; and ECCC Vice President for Instruction Dr. Teresa Houston and music 4nstructors Natalie Emmons and Vicki Blalock.
