Sutphin receives first copy Former East Central Community College President Dr. Phil A. Sutphin {left) receives the first copy of ''The East Central I Knew: A History of East Central Community College" from author Ovid Vickers during a special program held Sunday, June 2, 2013, in the Vickers Fine Arts Center on the Decatur campus. Dr. Sutphin asked Vickers to pen the book prior to Sutphin's retirement as the College's seventh president on June 30, 2012. Vickers, a longtime English instructor, noted author and folklorist, earlier entertained the large crowd in attendance with his humor and remembrances of his 40-plus years as a faculty member.
