Public Invited to ECCC Guest Recitals
completed a Doctor ofMu– sical Arts at tl1e University of North Texas and holds a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Uni– versity ofConnecticut. An active per– fonner, Dr. Baker is prin– cipal timpanist for the Tu– pelo Symphony Orchestra, pnnc1pal percussionist for the Starkville Symphony Orchestra and a member of the State Messengers facul- ty jazz combo and the Bam Percussion Group. The final concert will be held on Wednesday, November 18, and features Dr. Rebecca Wascoe, so– prano, who will present a lecture recital titled "The Singing Impresario." Dr. Wascoe is a native of Texas and serves as Adjunct Professor of Voice at the Umversity of Southern Mississippi She IS a recip1ent of the Sigma Alpha Iota Doctoral Grant, / and continues to present re– citals throughout the Unit- ·\_ ed States. Her solo reper- ..,~. toire mcludes major works by Beethoven, Mozart, ·, Schubert, Mahler, Verdi . and Brahams, among oth- ers.
The East Central Community College Music Department wiU host three musical guests during the m~nth of November, who Will each make presenta– tions at J p.m. during re– spective Wednesday recital classes in Vickers Fme Arts Auditorium. Each event is open to the public and there is no charge for admissiOn. The first per– formance is scheduled Wednesday, November 7 and will feature Dr. \1ichaei Brown playing Havdn 's Tn1mpet Concerto. H; will be accompanied by ECCC instructor Len BoN> on pi– ano. Dr. Bro\\'Il serves as the HeadoftheMus 1c De– partment and Professor of Mus1c at Mississippi State University m Starkville. A native ofGeorgia, he holds undergraduate degrees from Emmanuel College and Beny College and the Master's and Doctorate 10 Music Education from the University of Georgia. He currently serves ns Music Director of the Starkville Symphony Orchestra and Brass Ensemble Director at the Starkv11le First united Methodist Church. Dr. Jason Baker
