Competition, members of The Tom-Tomstaffearned the follow– ing awards. • Aflrst place firush for soph– omore Rachel Ramirez of Forest, Best General Interest Column. • TheTom-Tom staff was also honored with first place plaque for Best Front Page. • Sophomore Jennifer Moore– Pope of Forest was recognized with a second place award for Best Feature Story. • Sophomore Polly Vaughn of Decatur was recognized with a second place award for Best Gen– eral News Photograph. • The Tom-Tom staff also receiving second place honors for Best Miscellaneous Advertise– ment. • Freshman Raychal Reed of Louisville claimed a third place
prize in the Best Sports Feature Story Category. • TheTom-Tom staff also won third place honors for Best Lay– out & Design, Best Editorials and Best Single Advertisement. East Central students earned 10 awards in the Mississippi Press Association's Better News– paper Contest in the Community and Junior College Division. including second place in the general excellence award, the top award granted for student news– papers in the community college division for the state.
