Joan Grimes serves as director. The menu for each night's performance includes sliced brisket, fried chicken breast, "smashed" potatoes, green beans, glazed carrots, cornbread/rolls, assorted cheesecake, pecan and apple pie, and tea and coffee. Traditional and blue grass gospel songs and stories of faith and beliefs provide the setting for the East Central Community College Players' dinner theater production of "Smoke on the Mountain" by Constance Ray, scheduled at 7 p.m. Nov. 4-6, in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria on the Decatur campus. Set in the 1930s, this musical tale intro– duces the singing Sanders family, who per– form their traditional and blue grass gospel songs for members of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, N.C. Pastor Mervin Oglethorpe welcomes family members to the church, where their individual stories and beliefs are shared during the concert. The audience serves as members of the congregation. The presentation includes a pleasant rilixture of energetic rousing numbers, plaintive hymns and soulful praise songs. Selections vary from the widely known, such as 'Wouldn't Take Nothing from My Journey Now" and "I'll FlyAway," to the more obscure songs, such as "Filling Sta– tion."
