East Central Community College's tennis team~ feU to Mississippi Gulf Co~t Com– munity College in matches played Thesday, Feb. 23, in Biloxi. The women were clipped 7-2 and the Warriors dropped a 3-6 decision. Sami Elkins of Forest and Hannah Peoples of Newton County Academy led EC in women's singles by defeat– ing Brittany Freeman (6-4, 6- 3) and Katherine Blair, 6-4,4- 6,1.0 (1 0-8), respectively. In other results, Etise Gibbs of Newton County fell to Ruda Grinvalde (6-0, 6-3); Abby McMillan of Newton County Academy lost to Vic– toria Hagel (6-3, 6-2), Rachael Ramirez of Forest was edged by Megan Terrel (6-3, 6-2) and Ashley Walker of Union was clipped by Katie King (6-0, 6-3). Warrior Golfers Finish Fourth in ECCC Invitational East Central Community College's golf team ftni~hed fourth in its own invitational tournament held Feb. 20-21, 2010, at Forest Country Club. Golfers from Mis~issippi Gulf Coast took top honor' in the 36-hote competition by firing rounds of 295 and 292 (587) to capture their second-straight MAC]C event of the young season. Northeast finished second at 5% (298-298), followed by Copiah Lincoln, 611 (307- 304) and East Centf.ll, 614 (309-305) Rounding out the field were East Mississippi,
624 (315·309); Northwest, 615 (308-317); fhnds, 638 (325-313); Itawamba, 667 (342-325);Jones County, 668 (346-321.); Pearl River, 679 (345-334); and Holnles, 720 (365-355). Matthew Bochan of Franklin, Tenn., led EC by carding rounds of 70 and 80 for a 150 total, eight over par.
