ECCC splits with Jones JC DECATUR-A packed Brackeen-Wood gym witnessed two exciting games Monda> night between South Division rivals East Central Communit) College and Jones County Junior College, each of v. hich v. as decided on last-second shots. In the women's contest, -.ophomore Mystee Dale drained a three-pointer with 9.1 second::. remaining, giving the Lady Warriors an 80-77 dctory over the vtsiting Lady Bobcats. The Warriorl> v.en: on the \\rong end of last-second hero– ics, however, a5 Brian Srngleton ckove through the lane for a buzzer-beating lay-u: a5 :ime expired in overtime, and the 1 division leading Bobcat!> came away with a stunning 98-96 decision. Dale, a 5-8 guard. pumped in 34 points for the EC women, who improved to 15-+ overall and 5-1 in divtsion play, while Jones dropped to 13-5 and 4-2. The Lady Warrior~ are 'econd in the league standings and await Thursda} s showdo\\O with division leader Copiah-Liocoln Communit} College getting under way at 6 p.m. in Decatur. The ninth-ranked Lady Wolves are 17-1 and 6-0. In the mens contc'>l. the Warriors seemed destined to notch the key division battle in regulation when sophomore Jacob Jordan connected on one of two free-throw attempts and gave EC an 82-78 advantage with 13 seconds remain– ing. But Brandon Wilson of Jones responded with a three– point play, as he scored on a drive to the basket and drew a foul with 7.2 seconds remaining to make it 82-81. Warrior Kelltleth Barlow, a Scott Cetltral product, was fouled with 6.8 seconds remainmg and made one of two free throws for an 83-81 advantage.
