These career-technical students at East Central Community College in Decatur received medals at the 2009 SkillsUSANational Leadership and Skills Conference held during June in Kansas City, Mo. Award winners included. from left, Courtney Craven of Louisville, Holly Tanner of Ethel and Jermaine Glass of Louisville, who placed third in the Occupational Safety and Health competition; and Patrick Griffin of Union, who also placed third In Major Appliance Repair. Also receiving honors but not pictured were Brooke Barrett and Melissa Kleinschmidt, both of Union. Magan Lancaster of Decatur, Mecklin Soules of Heidelberg, Kandance Smith of Collinsville, Takeila Stephens of Meridian and Kimberly Wareing of Forest, who placed fourth in the Opening and Closing Team competition; Marsha Reed of Philadelphia and Jessica Smith of Forest, fourth-place winners in Promotional Bulletin Board; Josh Steele of Newton, 1Oth, CNC Turning: and Jonathan Chapman of Newton, who finished 22nd in Collision Repair. ECCC tied with Meridian Community College for most medalists from Mississippi.
