Cox is EC Police Chief

William "Bill" Cox of Philadelphia was recently selet·ted Chief of Police at East Central Community Colleg-e in Decatur, announc.oed Dt•. Phil A Sutphin, ECCC pr-esident. Cox. who begins his duties on April 1, has served us deputy sheri£! for the Neshoba County Sheriffs Department since 2005. He is also a former polire officer for the Philadelphia and Olive Branch police depart- ments. · D1·. Sutphin said Cox was chosen for the new position due to his ··experience and the match between his skills and the requirements for the position.·· "Chief Cox began his law enfo1·cemcnt career in an urban police fOJ'Ce, moved to a I'tu·u.I police force, and then while serving as deputy sher– iff he was a school resow-ce officer dealing "ith students and parents in an education– al environment,'' said Dr. Sutphin. Cox is an ordained minis– ter and previously served as pastor of several Church of God chw'Ches. He is a mem– ber of the Contemporary Christian group "Canaan," and he and his wife, Britta, own the River of Life Christian Bookstore in Philadelphia. Coxand Ws wife have four chi1dren, Carrigan, 12; Loralee, 11; Connor, seven; and Sam, four.
