Meridian men East Centrat 87 66 Regis Huddleston drained eight 3-point ba ·kets in leading MCC with a game– high 33 points. "It was a big road win.·· said MCC coach George Brooks. "We battled and played bard. We played wtder control and shared the bas– ketball and kept the ball moving and the floor spread. "Vle gang rebounded and that's what you've got to do when you're small. "It's a good win for us... Huddleston had 12 points on four treys in the first half as the Eagles carried a 42-29 lead into halftime. Mario Luckett had 11 points in the first half. MCC upped its lead to 5&- 34 in the first five minute~ of the second half to take con– trol. ECCC closed to within 58- 48 with 10:15 remaining, but the Eagles scored 13 of the next 18 points to extend their lead to 71-53 with seven min– utes showing. MCC also got 15 points each from Luckett and Reggie Shelwood and 12 from Otis Williams. ECCC got 17 points from Josh Luckett, 16 from Mar– quis Wilson. 10 from Darron Maxtion. and n;ne from Dcvarus Walker.

"We were just able to hang on and beat a good Meridian team," Smith said. "You've got to win at home. We've got 17th-ranked Copiah-Lincoln coming in Monday, so we've got to go right back to work." ECCC also got 10 points from Alisa Matlock, nine from Evans, and six from Henderson. MCC got 16 points from Wair, 14 apiece from Anderson and NaDosha Strickland, 10 from Tiara Parker, eight from Zirconia Hopkffis, and seven from Babina. "It's early in the division " said Allen. "This game isn'•t going to win the division or lose the division for us. "Certainly, it would have been nice to take care of a victory on the road. Some point in time, I've got to get some victories on the road in order to be competitive in this division. "Give East Central credit. They're a great basketball team. They made some shots when they needed to. They made the plays when they needed to." ..-:
