Russell earns honors as ECCC pitcher

The efforts of East Central Communitv College\Lady Dia– mond Wa;riors pitcher Codee Russell did not go unnoticed by coach Scott Hill this :;pring. Russell, a 2001 Leake Acad– emy graduate, was named co– Most Valuable Pitcher, as she completed her freshman cam– paign with a mark of 11-4. Russell also gained notori– ety as the Lady Warriors advanced to regional competi– tion in Clinton earlier this year, as she was named to the second team of the Mississippi Association of Community and J unior Colleges all-star team. The Lady Warriors fimshed fourth in the state in 2008. While at Leake Academy, Russell was a member of the fi r st Rebelette team to win a state championship.
