Numerous ECWarriors continuing football careers

Eleven members of the 2007 East Central Com· munity College football squad are continuing their careers at various four-year colleges and universities after signing mid-year scholarships, announced Steve Cheatham, who recently took over the Warrior football program. Now with the Universi– ty of Southern Mississip– pi is wide receiver Fred– die Parham, a 5-11, 180- pound product of St. Clair County High School in Margaret, Ala. Joining the Delta State University squad are defensive linemen Mark Hoskins (5-11, 290) and Ken Whitfield (6-1, 245), both from Louisville; and Katlan French, a 5-9, 175- pound wide receiver from Starkville Academy. Warriors now playing at Mississippi Valley State Un iversity are defensive end Chris Ivey (6-2, 225) of Louisville and offensive lineman Mar– quis Harris (6-2, 320) of Meridian. Tapped by Mississippi College is cornerback

Dameon Brown (5·10, 165) of Thomastown. Two Warriors have joined the University of North Alabama squad, cornerback Travis Robin– son (6-1, 190) and free safe– ty Ray Frierson (6·0, 180), both of products of Hill· crest High School in Tuscaloosa. Now with the Universi– ty of Tennessee-Martin is linebacker Jamar Lawrence (6-1, 220) of Tuscaloosa County High School. Running back Roosevelt Ross (5·8, 190) of Ocala– Forest (Fla.) High School signed with Jacksonville State University. Ross fm– ished second in the state in rushing with 695 yards on 98 carries, a 5.9-yard average, although he played in just seven of nine games. He averaged 99.3 yards per contest and scored eight touchdowns. He missed two games due to injury. Coach Cheatham said he expects additional Warriors will sign schol– arships with four-year schools later in the spring.
