Kinton retires as EC English instructor

A 20-year career in educa– tion is coming to a close for Tony Kinton of Carthage, who has served the past nine years as a faculty member at East Central Community College in Decatur. An end-of-the-year luncheon program at the col– lege will be held Friday, May 9, in his honor. Kinton began his employ– ment at the college in 1999 as choral music instructor. He also served as directQr of the Concert Choir andAc'cents, the college's show choir; and most recently served as a member of the English faculty. He has also served 14 years as a member of the college's adjunct faculty. In recognition of his service to ECCC, Kinton was named Humanities Instructor of the Year in 2006, and was selected as one of the college's Lamplighters in 2003, an annual program that recog– nizes the state's outstanding community and junior college instructors. A graduate of Carthage High School, Kinton attended ECCC and received a bache– lor's degree in music education and a master's of applied music and English from Mississippi College. He has completed

additional coursework at MC, Millsaps College, The University of Mississippi and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to the former Susan Rogers of Carthage.
