In the first-round loss to Barton County, the Lady Sues attempted 27 3-pointers and made eight. Guzzardo got all 12 of her points from behind the arc as she made four of her 10 attempts. "We're not the biggest team out there, the fastest or the most talented, so we have to do the little things," Thompson said. The Lady Bucs are averaging 78.6 points and allowing 59.1.

Shelton reached the 2000 NJCM Final Four, placing fourth. Shelton also advanced to the nationals in 2006 and 2007. Only three players are back from last year's 31-4 squad, however. "Shelton's got a real good learn and they're coming out of the Alabama region.'' EC coach Bill Smith said. 'They should be somebody we could match up a little bit better with." The Lady Warriors definitely match up better with the Lady Sues in size. Shelton's tallest players are 6-foot-1 center Ashley Young and 6-foot forward/ center Darnisha Lyles (10.9 ppg, 10.4 rpg). The leading scorer for Shelton State is 5- foot-9 freshman forward Margaret Bell at 14.0 points per contest. She also averages 5.6 rebounds. Lyles (55.5 percent) and Bell (54.1 percent) are both shooting over 50 percent from the field for the season. Bell scored a team-high 21 points in the loss to Barton County.
