EC takes splits with Jones, Meridian

By Marty Stamper Appeal Sports Editor Both the Warriors and Lady Warriors of East Central Community ColJege came away with splits m MACJC South Olvtsion action with the Lady Warriors beating Meridian in overtime and the Wa rriors knocking off Jones. Jones 81 EC \\Omen 80 Jones, ranked No. 22 nation- ally, hJttled back from a iS– point second ·half defictt to defeat the Lady Warriors on Jan. 8 at Decatur. Deanna Powe's 3-point shot \Vith 13 seconds remaining gave the Lady Bobcat!> the win. Andrea Dubose had put the Lady Warriors up 80-78 20 sec– onds earlier, hut Jones was able to score ofr an i11bounds play and EC was unablc·to answer as time exptred Sophomore Valerie Harris of Lake had 30 pomts and ctght rebounds to lead the Lady Warrwr~ In falling to 8-3 over– all and 0-1 in the South Dtvision. the Lady Warriors were outrebounded 45-26.
