Tennis competition began suc– cessfully for East Central Com– munity College squads who posted victories over Hinds Community College February 27 on the Decatur campus. The Lady Warriors defeated their counterparts by a 6-3 margin and the Warrwrs cruised to a 7-2 win. In women's singles, EC victors were Briana Stinson of Philadelphia, who defeated H. Carroll (6-1, 5-7, 10-8), and Maggie McDill of Decatur, who clipped S. Moulder (7-5, 6-4). Julie Gaines of Philadelphia and Kim Cleveland of Union won their respective matches due to forfeit s. Dru Anderson of Decatur and Mandy Dennis of Car thage were defeated in their respective matches with

The ECCC men swept Hinds in doubles, as Harris and Cook teamed to beat Winningham and Mullins (8-4), Brown and Cieglo cruised past the Muffa– luto-Derklerk team (8-2) and Josh Moore of Newton and Matthew Wilkerson of Walnut Grove won their match due to a forfeit. Susan Fox-Smith serves as coach of the Lady Warrior and Warrior tennis teams, whose next competition is scheduled March 6 at J ones County Junior College in Ellisville.
