When she -completed the sev– enth grade in 1969, Teresa Harrison thought she "knew it all," so she quit school. The 52-year-old grandmother from McCool admitted 38 years later that she really "did not have a clue" to the real meaning of an education until she recently received her GED (General Educational Develop– ment) diploma. Harrison provided her testi– monial during the annual GED Graduation ceremony held July 17 at East Central Com– mufl.ity College in Decatur. She was one of 45 graduates hon– ored at the special event, coor– dinated by the Office of Adult and Continuing Education. "Without an education, you're not going to get far in life," Harrison told a packed Huff Auditorium. "It took a long time to get my GED and I thought about quitting classes several times. But all my hard work would have been for nothing, and I knew that if I quit I would be setting a bad t>xample. for my grandchild, ren nne! r jll'st C'Clllld n't no lhnt!
