ECCC Lady Warriors Wrap Softball Season

Loren Kennedy of Union belted a double and Kayla Mullinax of Stringer singled and knocked in a run. Whitnee White of Neshoba Central and Lindsey Little of Newton County also scored a run each. The Lady Diamond Warriors jumped out to 2-0 first-inning lead but Pearl River rallied with a pair of runs in its half of the inning to tie the contest. EC regained the lead with a run in the second, but the Lady Wildcats responded with five runs in the sec– ond and held on for the 7-3 victory. Kimbo Seale of Clarkdale took the loss for EC on the mound, allowing seven runs on six hits through two and one-third innings. She fanned one batter and walked one.
Kady Chandler of Neshoba Central hurled the fmal three and two-thirds innings, fanning six bat– ters and walking one. LSU-Eunice scored three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to eliminate the Lady Warriors in Friday's action. East Central - which scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth - was led by Kennedy's double and single, and Smith's home run. White and Stevens had doubles each, and Mullinax and Tiffany Thomas of Union each had singles. Kennedy also had two RBis. Runs were scored by Smith, Mullinax and Stevens. Chandler went the distance for EC on the mound and took the loss. She allowed six earned runs on 11 hits. She fanned seven batters and walked two. The team also includes Andie Easom of Sebastopol. Next season, Easom will be joined by former Lady Bobcats teamate Emily Thrash who signed with ECCC earlier this spring.

DECATUR-The East Central Community College's Lady Warriors fast-pitch softball team ·wrapped up another successful campa:,.gn follow– ing participation in the Region 23 tournament held ~1ay 10-12 at the tournament's new home in Clinton. The Lady Diamond Warriors, who won a third-straight ~1ACJC Central Division title and finished 29-22 under fourth-year head coach Scott Hill, lost a pair of 7-3 decisions to Pearl River and LSU-Eunice in the double-elimination tournament, won by Gulf Coasl Hill, whose family remains in Scott County, praised his team's efforts during the 2007 campaign. "I am very proud of our entire team. We started the season a little slow, but played very well during the second half of the season especially during division play," Hill said. "Capturing the division champi– onship was a great accomplishment and was one of the many goals this team met during the season. Our
