East Central softball team drops pair
A perfect day for softball result– ed in anything but for the East Cen– tral Community College Lady War– nor\ who were swept by Mississippi Gulf Coast Commun ity College Thur~day afternoon in doubleheader action held on the Decatur campus. The Lady Diamond Bulldogs took ad\antage of four EC errors en route to an 11-0 ~hut out in the flfSt game. and the \ 1~1tor, rallied for a 5-2 deci– sion in the second contest EC managed only three hits in the opener- ~ingles each by Whitnce \\'hllc of Neshoba Central, Shenique BraS\ of Philadelphia and Kayla Mul– linax of Stringer.

Kimbo Seale of Clarkdale completed the contest on the mound, allowing four runs on six hits. Gut f Coast. which collected 12 hits. scored one run in the second, l>ix in the fourth and fou r in the fifth to claim the shut out. In the second contest, the Lady Diamond Warriors carried a 2-1 advantage into the seventh inning, when the visitors tallied four wi ns and held on for the victory. White homered and singled to lead the EC offensive attack. Brass and Tiffany Thomas of Union had singles each. Thomas also collected an RBI. Kady Chandler of Nel>hoba Cen– tral went the distance 10 the los1ng effort, allowing five runs on SIX hit~. She also fanned three bauers and walked one. Next up for the Lady Diamond Warriors, who sport a 2-6 mark under fourth-year head coach Scott Hill, is a doubl eheader with visiting Jones County Junior College on Tuesday. Feb. 27.
