ECCCDiamond Warriors Crush Jo11es, Sweep EMCC In Recording Ninth Straight Win

East Central Community College's basebaU team recorded itS ninth consecutive victory Sunday afternoon by trouncing Jones County Junior College 20-6 Sunday afternoon in Ellisv\lle. With the victory, the Diamond Warriors improved to 22- I8 under first– year bead coachNeal Holliman. East Central began weekend action by sweeping East Misstssippi Community (7-6, 9-2) in a key MACJC Central Division match-up Friday in Scooba. The Diamond Warriors arc 6-4 in league play and remain in contention for a spot in the state playoffs, which get underway May 3. ECCC takes on divi&ion leader Meridian Community College at3 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex on the Decaturcampus. EC also hosts division foe Ilinds in a 3 p.m. doubleheader this Saturday. In the win over Jones, EC pounded 18 hits and erupted for 13 runs in the final two innings in posting the easy v1ctory. Jacob Casey of Union led the EC offense with two doubles and two singles. He also collected two RBTs and scored two runs. Chad Gosselin of Brandon and Adam Griffin ofNesboba Central also had a productive day. as each homered and singled. Gosselin was
