Jones Returns To ECCC Football Coaching Staff Brtan Jones has returned to the football coaching staff at East Central Commumty College inDecatur, announced Terry Unden..-ood. athletic director/head football coach. Jones. who is also a former Warrior football standout, will pnmanly be responsible for coaching defensive linemen. He will also serve as assistant strength and conditioning coach. Jones is a former athletic director/head footbalJ coach at HeidelbergAcademy, where he led the 2004 and 2005 squads to an overall I0-9 mark. The 2005 team finished with an 8-2 record. Jones previously served on the Warrior staff from January 2004 to July of that year, when he took over the HeidelbergAcademy football program. His ECCC duties included serving as running backs coach and providing (!ssistance in coordinating the strength and conditioning program. He began his coaching career at Delta State University, where he served as assistant defensive line coach and helped coordinate the strength and conditioning program from January 2002 to December 2003. Jones was a member of the 2000 Delta State football squad, which won the NJCAA Division 11National Championship He served as team captain of the 2001 team and received the hustle award the same year. He was an honorable mention All-State selection on ECCC's 1999 squad, which advanced to state playoffs under current head coach Terry Underwood and finished with an 8-3 record. Jones was also a member of the 1998 team. .Jones is a graduate of Victoria (Texas) High School. where he was an honorable mentionAll-State linebacker in 1996. He helped lead Victoria to the District 29-5A championship and a berth m the regional finals en route to a 9-1-1 record. He holds a bachelor degree in sports management from DSU and an associate's degree in liberal arts from ECCC.
