BOND RECEIVES SPI;– CIAL RECOGNITION( Jacob Bond (left), a third– grader at Newton County Academy, was recently hon– ored for improving his grades over the previous nine-week period. The spe– cial recognition is part of the BUG (Bringing Up Grades)– Pius project, sponsored by the Greater Decatur Cham– ber of Commerce. Each award winner receives a BUG-Plus T-shirt and has the opportunity to win·a new computer at an end-of-the– year picnic held on the East Central Community College campus in Decatur. Also pic– tured is ECCC President Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, former Chamber president currently serving as education com– mittee chairman, who made the presentation.
