• Lois Blount Cooper (centt>r) of Decatut was recently welcomed to the East Central Community Collt>ge Board of Trustees. Coop~r. who is sho\m with Board Vice Chairman jack Winstead (l<>ft) of Lawrence and ECCO Presidt>nt Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, is a new nwmber rt>pre senting Newton County. Cooper, an ECJC alumnus. is a retired educator with 28 years experience serving Decatur and Newton County high schools. She cmTt•ntiy works part-time as public relations directot· with the Ntwton County School District. She also str\'es as a ~t>wton County representative on the College's Alumni Association ~oard of Directors. Cooper \\as selected ECCC's "Alumna of the Year" in 1992 and was present <>d a "Mississippi Po\H'r of One'' award in 2001. She ·s also a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women (MU\\~ .md has completrd additional studies at Mississippi State University and the University or Southern Mississippi. She was married to the late Cad Cooper and they bad three children: Mike Coopt>r. Tam Cooper Yowell. and Doug Cooper. who is deceased. MIS.
