GEOLOGIST'S MEMORY Rebecca Hen'ry Boswell, right, of Louisville recently honored her late husband by establishing the Ernest Harrison Boswell Memorial Scholarship at East Central Community College in Decatur. Boswell scholarship established at ECCC special to The Star A scholarship in memory of Erne t Harrison Boswell has been established at East Central Community College in Decatur. · Initiated by his widow, Rebecca Henry Boswell, and chil– dren Ann Spell. Linda Montgomery, Karen Gibson and Harry Boswell, the award honors the Louisville native and 1940 EC graduate who became a nationally recognized expert in the field of geology. Boswell authored more than 30 scientific reports and papers on the subject and received the Department of the Inte– rior's Meritorious Sen ·ice A ~ rd m 19 Boswell, who met hb \\ife v;hile attendm~ Ea,1 Central, was a member of a National Guard unit in Decatur and :.tned in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated with a master's degree in geology from the University of Alabama in 1949. To be eligible for the Ernest Harri on Boswell Memorial Scholarship, applicants must be incoming male freshmen from Winston County and enroll as a full-time students at ECCC. They must also have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and demonstrate financial need.
