Todd Memorial Scholarshipestablished at ECCC The family of Dustan Eugene Todd has estab– lished a scholarship in his memory at East Central Community College in Decatur.
Todd was an avid out– doorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and play– ing golf. He was also focused on his career goals and was set to begin employment with the Mis– sissippi Department of Transportation (~lDOT) prior to the accident. "Dustan had his future all planned with his love of designing and survey– ing and knew what his job would be like," said his parents, David and Ann Todd of Chunky, who, along with their son Travis Todd.~ established the scholarship. "We want to carry on Dustan's dreamby helping deserving students who have a deep desire to suc– ceed in the field of draft– ing and design...and hope they remember Oustan in their accomplishments,"
the family stated. Applicants for the Dus– tan Todd Memorial Schol– arship must meet the fol– lowing cnteria: be a grad– uate of Newton County High School, enroll as a full-time freshman stu– dent at ECCC after high school graduation for the fall semester, major in drafting and design tech– nology. demonstrate fmancial need, have a B– plus or above GPA while attending high school. and maintain a B-plus or above GPA in the drafting and design technology field. Recipients of the $1000 annual scholarship will be selected annually by the ECCC Scholarship Com– mittee. The flrst award winner will be announced during the 2007 Awards Day ceremony at Newton
Todd was a drafting and design technology major at ECCC when he lost his life in a motorcycle accident on April28, 2004. He was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, and was chosen for Who's Who Among Stu– dents in American Junior Colleges. He is also recog– nized as member of the Class of 2004 at ECCC, hav– ing completed require– ments for graduation prior to his untimely death. He was a 2002 graduate of Ne\vton County High School, where he received numerous honors and awards.
