ECCC Lady Warriors sweep Hinds again; Improve to 27-3
East Central Community College's fast-pitch softball team recorded its second sweep of Hinds Community College in a three-day period by posting 13-4 and 11-0 decisions Monday afternoon on the Raymond campus. With the wins, the Lady Warriors improved to 27-3 overall and 14-0 in division play under sec– ond-year head coach Scott Hill. The East Central women clinched the MACJC Central Division title by sweeping the Lady Eagles (7- 1, 9-0) Saturday afternoon in Decatur. Marley Smith of Union picked up the win for EC in the first game, improving her record to a per-
feet 14-0. Smith also doubled for EC as did her Union teammate Lauren White and Newton County product Dominique Mapp. The Lady Warriors scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to clinch the victory. Lindsey Smith of Neshoba Central got the win for EC in the second game, as she improved her record to 7-2. Top sluggers for the Lady Warriors were Joy Cavenaugh of Newton County, triple; and Kotreece Bender of Newton, Lindsay Walker of Union. Erica Hardin of Louisville and Kristin Chaney of Newton County, who had
doubles each.
East Central scored four runs in the first, two in the second and three in the third in claiming the shut-out victory. The Lady Warriors have three doubleheaders remaining prior to hosting the MACJC/Rcgion 23 Championship scheduled May 6-8 on the Decatur campus. East Central travels to Coahoma on May 26 and East Mississippi on May 30. The Lady Warriors close out regular season play by hosting Copiah-Lincoln on Monday, May 2, with doubleheader action getting underway at I p.m.
