ECCC maintained control of the ball and the game by keeping the ball in play on the Lady Lions end of the field, but EMCC's Tina Porter struck first in the 12th minute of the match on a breakaway shot that landed in the back left hand corner of the goal to give the Lady Lions (0-5) the early 1-0 lead. The Lady Warriqrs {2-3) responded four minutes later with a shot from Jerica Williamson that landed in the back right corner of the net to tie the game at 1-all. Late in the first half, Williamson scored again on a shot that crossed the goal and stuck in the back right corner of the net with just minutes left before the first half whistle. "They played hard, but we've got a lot ofthings we've got to get them to work on," said Thompson, whdse men's team is 0-5-1. "There not spreading the other team's defense out so we've got to work on that They're making marked progress and they're star ting to play together." For EMCC the win marks the first win for the team in the last three season, whlch Bennett said is big confi– dence boost for his team. ''VVe needed it (the win)," Bennett said. "In our district Hinds pretty much has it wrapped up, but right now second place is wide open."
