ECCC trio not new at being new : By Marty Stamper ~ staff wrfter DECATUR- Joy Cavenaugh, Maggie McDill and Kenneth Thompson have been a part of first-year soccer programs before. Cavenaugh was an eighth grader and McDill a seventh grader when Newton County High School began its girls' soccer program. l t was Thompson that started soccer at NCHS. Now the trio are part of East Central Com- munity College's first women's soccer team. Thompson cur rently has only a dozen players on this year's roster He's hoping more help is on the way, but is ready to face the challenge with the girls already in the fold if he has to. The small numbers should be expected as only Newton County and Neshoba Cen– tral play girls' soccer in ECCC's five-county district.
