MCC's tennis teams open the season on Saturday with two matches in Jackson. The Eagles and Lady Eagles start play on their home court on Feb. 19, with matches aga1nst Central Alabama and Gulf Coast Community College.

McPhail said she is st1ll working on her lineup for the fall season.

"Everybody is working hard," McPhail said. "For the men and women, anybody could play 1-6 right now."

McPhail has set her women's doubles rotation for the upcommg season.

Britley Kimbriel and Amy Cole will be the Eagles' No. 1 duo; Ana Claire Marascalco and Amy Frazier will be the No. 2 tandem; and Casey Hedgepeth and Summer Boudreaux will be the No. 3.

"They played together in the fall as teams, and we are gomg to keep them paired up at the start of the season," McPhail said.

ECCC coach to receive pie

in the face for cancer

Either East Central Community College head football coach Terry Underwood or head baseball coach Jake Yarborough will soon have pie thrown in his face and a spouse will be the guilty party. Dunng halftime of the Lady Warriors' home basketball game aga inst Meridian Community College on Feb. 21, the two coaches will participate in a ECCC's Relay for Life team's cancer fund raiser. Event organizer Stacey Hollingworth said a collection for each coach will be taken during the first half of the game, and the coach who raises the most money will have a p1e thrown in h1s face by his wife.

All proceeds from the fundra1ser will go to the American Cancer SOCiety.

On the soccer recruiting trail

Meridian Community College head soccer coach Alex George is nearly fin1shed putting his men's and women's teams together for next season.

George said he has almost filled out all 25 scholarships for the men's team, and he has five spots open on his women's club.

"For the guys, we have some nice aces coming in," George said. "I feel pretty confident about the group we have com1ng 1n, and I think .
