East Central's Jay McMillin, who had kicked two field goals ear– lier, was wide rightwith a potential game-winning kick with 2:50 left. TheWarriorswere picked to finish sixth in theSouthDivision in apre– season poll of coaches. The Rangers scored in the first quarter on quarterback Lewis Kuf– fuor's 22-yard touchdown -pass to Terrance Jackson. Jackson scored on a 2-yard run in the second quar– ter to make it 14-0. McMillin got East Central on the board in the second quarter on a 30.yard field goal. He added a 2&– yarder in the third quarter. TheWarriors' Terrance McFad– den got loose for a 13-yard touch– down scamperwith 12minutesleft in the fourth quarter. A two-point pass attempt failed. It was a sloppy game with both teams piling up 105yards in penal– ties.
