Hollingsworth, a Newton County native who served from 1967 to 2000 on the math fac– ulty at the University of Georgia, and Ann Hunter Burkes of Decatur, who spent 32 years as ECCC's librarian. will be recog– nized as the College's Alumnus and Alumna of the Year, respec– tively. at the annual Alumni Association Awards Luncheon scheduledat 11:30 am. in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria Also being recognized are two new members of the ECCC Athletic Hall of Fame- former Warrior head football coach Ken Pouncey of Decatur and former basketball standoutMarcus Mann, a Leake Countynative now resid– Ing in Forest, and faculty members SharonLeJeune of Meridian and WandaBrackeenof Hickory, selectedAcademic andVocational– 'I'echnicallns1ructors of the Year, respectively. Pouncey served 15 years as head coach of theWarriors,from 1967- 1961, and led ECCC to three divi– utles ana ut:· t'ro\.15 wmrung ~~~He a1e :ez-as arm-qat East CentraL Now retired Pouncey is also a former Superintendent of Education for theEnterprise and Newton County school systems, and previously SE>rved as assistant high school principal at Bay Springs. In alL he has accumulated 34 years of service in the field of education. As a freshman, Mann helped lead the 1992-93Warriors to the program's frrst state title in 40 years en route to a 248 record. East Central, led by then head coachMartyCooper, continued its success the following year by win– ning the SouthDivisionand South

including All-American, All– Region, andAll-state honors. Mann continued his athletic career at Mississippi Valley State University, leading the DeltaDevlls to the SouthwestAthletic Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Mann led the nation in rebound– ing his senior year and was select– ed SWACPlayer of the Year. After graduating from Valley, Mann was chosen in the second round of the National BasketballAssociation draft by the Golden State Warriors. Mann left the NBA after a short periodand currently serves as chaplain at the Leake County Correctional Facility. Mann is also a former All-state selection at South U!ake High SchooL where he led theWildcats to the State Class 2A title en route to a 343 record. LeJeune teaches biology at East Central, where she has been employed since 2002. She was selected the College's HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day: Worlti.ngToward Academic Excellence) Instructor of Year for 2003-04. group. Known printarily as a Top 40 rock 'n' roll band, the Collegians were founded about 30 years ago by former ECCCmusic instructor Marian Thornton. Bob Heritage, a former choir director at the College, also spent time cis the group's leader and was later assist– ed by Thomas W. Carson, who took over as director in 1984 and contin– ues to lead the popular entertain– ers. 1n addition to directing the Collegians,Carsonplays lead gui– tar and arranges all the group's musical selections. Carson also serves the College as dfrector of bands. Other groups beinghonored include members of all classes ending in "4," with special recog– nition being given to the Class of 1$i in observance of its golden anniversary. Class members will receive "special diplomas" and ECCC- inscribed pens during a Pl:'l:r gram scheduled at 10 a.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center.
