Dr. Eddie M. Smith, who served as ECCC President from 1985 to 2000, established the scholarship in 1985 in recognition of the support and assistance Mr. Covington provided him and other students to attend college. Both are Noxapater natives. Hunter received the award at the 2003 BeiiSouth Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon held in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria on the Decatur campus. She is shown with Lanette Hanna, ECCC acade– mic counselor/student recruiter, following the presentation. -.o
