Ea!>t Central Community College got its 2003 football season off to a rousing start with a 21-14 victory over defending state champion Holmes last Thursday night at Goodman. East Central dropped a 14-7 decisiOn to eventual North Division champi– on Northeast at Decatur. At Holmes. Hunter scored on a 2-yard run in the ftrst quarter. and Mitch Myers hit th~.: first of his three successful point-after kich to put East Central ahead 7-0. Holmes got both of its touchdowns in the second quarter. The Bulldogs tied it on a ]– yard run from Scdrick Clay. then went ahead 14-7 on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Brett Borden to Byron Johnson.

East Central answered back just before the half. as Titus Ryan got loose on a 6-yard scoring run. The teams were tied 14-14 at halftime. The onl) scoring of the second half came in the third quarter. when Hunter broke a 19- ) ard run and Mycr.. added the PAT kick for a 21-14 a1.hantagc. The Wamor.. held Holmes to 195 yards of total offense, and EC overcame three turnovers.
