Kitchers ,'oore lead MHS signees

At .~e~·a an H1gh School, two senior Wildcats committed themselves to o1ay football for higher education institutions in the state of M ss ss Dj) Seco'lo team All-area punter Chris Kitchens signed a letter of intent w th MISSISSippi Val ley State University. Kitchens had just recently s1gned to play soccer at MCC but was then later offered a full scholarship by MVSU. Kitchens, a white male, will be attending MVSU, which is a historically African-American college. Kitchens said that this fact did not make a difference in his decision. uThey paired me with a current player when I went to visit there," Kitchens said. "Everyone was real nice to me and I had a great time. I'd go to a predominantly black school right now, so that was never a factor with my decision." Defensive bacK Kevin Moore also signed a letter of intent to play at Holmes Community College in Goodman non Wednesday morning. Moore said he was eager to get to Holmes and start playing. "I want to get there and start as soon as possible," Moore said. "I am ready to show them that I can take my game to the next level." I Newton County High School was very busy Wednesday morning. Eight seniors signed letters of intent. East Central Community College signed seven players including: rnebacker Terrance Patrick, linebacker Derek Mapp, defensive tackle Dernck Cleveland, defensive tackle Michael Johnson, running back Darryl Mapp, offensive tackle Reed Meyers, and fullback Kendrck Windham. ~They offered me a full ride, " Kitchens said. "It was hard to turn down, plus I really wanted to play football at the college level."
