Thomas W. Carson, director of bands at East Central Community Col– lege in Decatur, has been selected Mississippi's representative to the Collecre Band Directors National 0 . Association, announced Gary W. Hill, association president. Carson is the only community/junior college band direc– tor chosen to serve as a "Stale Chair'' for the organization. As Mississippi's "chair,'' Carson will represent all col-

to improve the ECCC band program. As state chair, Carson said he will have various responsibilities "to pro– mote and work with" the association. He added, "There will also be a lot of paperwork involved, as well as some travel to regional and national meet– ings. I have already been given a laun– dry list of things to get right to work on." Carson's first meeting as Missis– sippi's state chair to the CBDNA is scheduled in Atlanta, Ga., in February. Carson has led the ECCC band program since 1982. He holds mas– ter's and bachelor's degrees in music education from Delta State University and is an ECCC graduate. He com– pleted high school at Forrest-Sherman HS in Naples, Italy. He is married to the former Brenda Bramling of Philadelphia, who serves as ECCC's director of financial aid. They have three children, Chris, Jen– nifer and Jeremy.
