Soccer Warriors in PlayoffHunt, face Gulf Coast in do or die game
Lincoln, East Central Community College's soccer team has one more hurdle to clear to make its first trip to stare playoffs: divtsion leader Gulf Coast The Soccer Warriors, 9-6-2 overall and 5-3-1 in division play under fourth year head coach Kenneth Thompson, wiU battle the top-ranked Bulldogs (1 0-2-2 and 8-1) at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 on the Decatur campus. Although East Central has yet to defeat Gulf Coast in season competi– tio~ the Soccer Wamors have yet to lose a match in 2002 on its home turf. East Central cruised past Copiah– L incoln 6-2 Thursday in Wesson and claimed a 2-1 victory over perennial power MCC Wednesday (October :!3) m Decatur. Soph. forward Seltue Karweaye of Liberia, West Africa and sophomore defender Charlie Goodwin of Raleigh scored two goals each against the homestandmg Wolves Other scorers were freshmen midfielders Robbie Philhpson of !\!lorton and Beau Theobald of St Aloysius Htgh School in \'tcksburg. MS Soph mtdfielder Brandon Ditto of Brandon was credit– ed wtth two scormg assists and Phillipson had one ass1st. Matt Anderson and Chance Gamer scored for Co-Ltn Karweaye scored both goals in EC's win over MCC Benton Dufour scored for Mertdtan.
