one-yard plunge by Williams, which was set up when Warrior cornerback Pete McBride of Forest intercepted a Robison pass at the Ranger eight-yard line late in flfSt-halfaction. Swayze was again successful on the PAT, and East Central took a 21-7 half– time lead to the dressing room. Northwest managed the only third quarter points, as Robison found wide receiver John Harris of Americas, Ga., on a 13-yard touchdown pass with 2:21 left in the period. The Rangers closed the scoring gap to 21-20 early in the fourth period when Robison, who would complete the day with 236 yards passing on 39 attempts, hooked up for a second TD pass to Jackson, this time covering 18 yards. The PAT failed, and EC main– tained its slim lead. The Warriors used a little trickery - via the old hook-and-lateral play - to extend their lead to 27-20. The play worked to perfection. Warner, subbing for injured Stephens at quarterback, fired a short pass to wide receiver Ronald Smith of Daphne, Ala., who then tlipped the pigskin to speedster Titus Ryan of Tuscaloosa, Ala., who raced to end zone from 37 yards out. Swayze's PAT was unsuccessful. The Rangers would later tie the contest and claim the one-point win in overtime.
